Fresno City Timeline

1872 - Founded by the Central Pacific Railroad Company.
1875 - Fresno Expositor Begins Publication
1876 - Fresno Morning Republican Starts Publication
1882 - St. John Church Founded
1884 - Big Fresno Fair Starts
1885 - Fresno Incorporated
1893 - Fresno Public Library opens
1899 - Santa Fe Passenger Depot opens
1901 - Fresno Railroad in operation
1901 - Fresno Buddhist Temple opens
1914 - Holy Trinity Chuch Built
1919 - Fresno Historical Society Founded
1922 - Fresno Bee begins publication

Some of the  Native American Tribes known to inhabit California were the Hupa, Maidu, Pomo, Modic, Mohave, Chowignas, Pimunguns.  According to Ereferencedesk there were over 135 distinct language dialects.

1545 Typhus and other European diseases start killing larges amounts of native populations in Cuba, and New Spain
1579 Sir Francis Drake claims some land north of San Francisco for England
